The traditional farmhouse is still constructed from wood and mud brick, with a smooth coating of mud which is painted. Symbols are then painted onto the walls to protect the inhabitants from evil.
The ground floor is used for the animals at night. First floor has the living space and a room with a shrine. The top floor which has a very steep ladder access is used to dry and store hay. There are stones on the roof to hold the roof panels down as they did not have nails originally. It is not recommended that people keep animals in the ground floor of the house anymore but most of them do as it keeps them safe overnight.
